Love is a Choice

It's interesting to think about choice. Adam and Eve made a choice in the beginning of time that had an effect on the entire humanity.  Why would God put the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil in the garden with Adam and Eve to begin with though? Was He just setting them up for failure? If the tree wasn't there, we wouldn't have never sinned?  Because God created us for relationship with him, to truly have relationship their has to be a choice. The commandment not to eat of the fruit from the one tree was that choice for Adam and Eve to love God and trust that His command was good, or to break the relationship and choose sin. They chose sin. They only knew goodness and they chose to distrust.  God told them this command for a reason.  He wasn't setting them up to fail, instead He was warning them because He wanted the highest good for them and He believed that they could actually obey it.  He told them which tree, and even what would happen if they ate from it! "for surely you will die" and that's exactly what came to be.
Love is a risk. Everyone has a testimony of this in their lives. But there is something so beautiful about love that we continue to pursue it and take risks just to find it. I think God knew this first- He created us for love so He could love us and we could love Him. Yes, it was a huge risk and we rejected Him but when we choose now to love Him and be in relationship with Him, I think He knows it's all worth it.
